We love Capital Citieshttp://capitalcitiesmusic.com/(get their EP http://capitalcitiesmusic.com/ and download Safe+Sound Remix https://www.facebook.com/capitalcities?sk=app_208195102528120) made up of Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian. These dudes with rad facial hair (we all know how I feel about beards) jam to electro pop with a solid dance vibe. I mean….they’re getting ready to open for our beloved CHROMEO! (yes, we saw them last year coachella…..epic) Anyways back on track, these dudes let us ask them a couple of questions….We’ll also be posting a new remix to Kangaroo Court soon!

nativeLA: First off how did you and Sebu get together to form Capital Cities?
Ryan Merchant: Sebu and I met through Craigslist in 2008 and began collaborating as a composing team for TV commercials. After doing that for a few years we decided to start Capital Cities in 2010. We play live with a few of our amazing musician friends. They help bring the band to life in a live setting.
nLA: How was sxsw?
RM: SXSW is something I encourage all people to experience, whether you are in a band or not. Austin is amazing and the parties are endless. We played six shows in four days and every one of them was exciting in it’s own way. The highlight was our showcase for Pandora at this famous venue called Antone’s.
nLA: Do you plan on touring soon?
RM: Yes! We have a South America tour coming up in May. First we head to Santiago to open for Chromeo, then to Lima and Buenos Aires to play headlining shows. This tour is possible because radio has really embraced us in all three countries.

nLA: Who would you remix?
RM: There is an LA based artist named LP that we really want to remix. Her song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tV8ohkRGPaA is epic and needs some dance floor, electronica treatment.
nLA: Who would you want to record with?
RM: David Bowie would be a dream come true. Maybe Stevie Wonder?
